MIAO’S FIX-IT SHOP

“When you are in a fix, often the fix is in you.” Ashok Kallarakkal

Miao has been in fix-it mode in the Kindling Furniture workshop. Apart from the happy reminder of my childhood love of Maria and Luis in the Sesame Street fix-it shop (which coincidently, the lovely Pip Lincolne also talks about in her new, fabulous book, “Craft For The Soul“), I was so excited when I popped in to see him today and discovered that he had resurrected these old chairs as a surprise for me. Having been outside near the pizza oven for some years, the chairs had aged and worn so much that they had become a grey, warped and rickety version of themselves and looked ready for retirement. Now, they are amazing – reminiscent of their hey-day when they sat cheerily at either end of our kitchen table in Mum and Dad’s house in Mexico and weathered many a rambunctious Reeves reunion.  The process of mending, fixing, renovating and renewing has always been a magical one for me.
